Bristol is well known for it's diverse culture and celebrated for it's mass of independent businesses. Gloucester Road is the longest street in the UK of independent shops, however, with the rise of Chain businesses and shops in the high street will these small businesses be able to survive as chains become more and more powerful. There are strong forces behind the independent and local businesses in Bristol, such as The People's Republic of Stokes Croft and local traders which help promote the smaller businesses that have built the city to what people love and cherish but is this enough or will it become a thing of the past, a disappearing city? I have collected views and opinions of people who live in Bristol, with the main topic of why they shop in local and independent shops but also why they visit chains too. (Interviews included)
